About Us

The Station Museum at Wheatland Express is a year-round destination celebrating prairie railway history and community connection. Open Wednesday to Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., the museum offers visitors a step back into the 1920s with an authentic old-time train station atmosphere.

Inside the Station Museum, guests will find local artifacts on loan from the former Wakaw Museum, along with items generously donated by members of the community. The space features a functioning ticket wicket where excursion passengers purchase their tickets, as well as the Hall of Fame Room, which honours individuals who worked on the railroad in all classifications.

The Station Museum is an integral part of the Wheatland Express experience. Excursion passengers begin their journey here before boarding the train from the large outdoor deck. A wooden boardwalk connects the Station Museum to our old-time town, Little Big Town, extending the historic experience.

Beyond the museum, the Station Museum serves as a vibrant community hub. We host a wide range of community events, tours, classes, celebrations, and private rentals throughout the year, including weddings, festivals, fundraisers, and cultural gatherings. Through history, events, and shared experiences, the Station Museum continues to be a place where the past and present come together.
